Try Plum Island by Nelson DeMille while you are waiting. Technically John Corey is a police detective, not a PI, but he's on leave following an on-the-job injury so he pretty much does what he wants to do. Good setting, characters, and a fair amount of humor.
The Dog Who Knew Too Much by Spencer Quinn provides a little tongue-in-cheek detecting by Chet and Bernie of the Little Detective Agency.
